Finding Abundance Through Thankfulness

All of us have wishes. Whether it’s a brand new car, a spacious house, or a dream job, each of us desires something in our lives. But the moment it is fulfilled, it often no longer holds the same value for us. Why does this happen?

Perhaps it’s human nature. We realise the value of things only when they are taken away from us.

Humans tend to become indifferent even to necessities. People waste plates of food not because they are full, but because they forget how fortunate they are not to be hungry. Similarly, we have disregarded environmental balance, as evidenced by the rampant destruction of ecosystems and the exploitative consumption of natural resources driven by our ungrateful behaviour.

Our reckless actions, fuelled by our insatiable greed, have caused the depletion of resources and threatened the life-sustaining systems.

Greed brings out discontentment.

Discontentment leads to ingratitude.

Ingratitude paves the way for ignorance.

Ignorance takes everything away.

Gratitude is a multi-dimensional feeling that encourages us to recognize and appreciate all the positive aspects of our lives, including the tangible objects and intangible acts of generosity. It emphasizes understanding the importance of everything we have in our lives. And it motivates us to preserve it instead of neglecting or discarding it.

It’s a life-changing emotion that changes our mindset and shifts our direction from –

Scarcity to abundance,

Dissatisfaction to contentment.

It provides eternal bliss and peace by making us count our blessings in the form of gifts, relationships, and emotions.

Expressing gratitude harmonizes our relationships. By acknowledging the kindness and love people show us, we create a virtuous cycle of thankfulness, positivity, and connection.

Gratitude builds bonds that last a lifetime.

The feeling of thankfulness increases our self-worth to a great extent.

It motivates us to celebrate our achievements and strengths instead of focusing only on our weaknesses. It reminds us that our accomplishments are valuable, not because of their price but because of the efforts we have put into them. It reduces self-doubt and increases our confidence.

The power of gratitude is inexplicable. It ensures that we conserve, not misuse, whatever we have achieved or received.

Ingratitude makes people lose their sense of appreciation, enabling unchecked use of wealth and resources, eroding trust, and wrecking relationships. It is a destructive force, making people ultimately lose everything they have.

Feel grateful for what you have,

Or regret it when it’s gone.

We should learn to be thankful and preserve what we have before it’s too late…
