“Life is a Tragedy in Close-up and a Comedy in Long Shot.”

This quote by the famous comedian and film director Charlie Chaplin is not a whimsical statement; it’s a metaphorical revelation about life, encapsulating the philosophy of living in a better way.

The biggest mystery of life is life itself. We don’t know what will come next, nor can we predict it. We take lessons from the past, experience the present, but are still unprepared for the future…

Challenges are inevitable, a close companion, and inseparable from life. When faced with difficulties, we are overwhelmed with a multitude of emotions. Our intellect becomes clouded, our curiosity erodes, and our confidence breaks down. We focus on the minute details of our problem, considering it a personal misfortune that is impossible to conquer.

However, when we overcome that obstacle, those same moments and the associated emotions seem less intense. Some even become absurd or hilarious, leaving us with a bittersweet feeling.

Rowan Atkinson, who played Mr. Bean onscreen, adds, while explaining the context of the quote, “When you sit back visually on a situation, it automatically becomes funnier.”

His remark is relatable and, in fact, a universal experience. For example, as children, the problems that were significant to us are labeled as antics when we grow up. We ourselves laugh at them, describing them as childish.

All phases of life – whether joy or sorrow – are transient. Nothing is permanent except for change.

Our view of a situation is entirely dependent on our outlook. We can’t choose our circumstances, but we can definitely decide how to perceive them. Instead of dwelling on the negative aspects, see the brighter side. Instead of being hopelessly inert, try to find a solution. This shift in mindset does not mean evading reality. Rather, it means accepting it with courage.

Laughter is more than a form of therapy

Laughter is an invincible weapon to keep despair away.

It makes people feel optimistic

If you are truly at your wits’ end, just pause and reflect. You’ll eventually realize that you haven’t hit a dead end, but have turned and embarked on an unknown path you’ll have to discover. Believe in yourself. Your faith will not only help you survive, but it will also make you thrive.

Face adversity with a flexible outlook, a resilient approach, and of course, with sanguinity. Life will be a lot easier for you.
