Even When Your Brain Says You Are Not
There are days when our own thoughts turn into something very unreliable or unrealistic.
They –
Whisper half-truths
Magnify our mistakes, and
Diminish our strengths.
On those days, our own reflection feels unfamiliar to us.
Negative thoughts take over and continue to whisper all sorts of pessimistic notions. But deep down, the truth stays the same – something that does not demand attention. It remains steady and slowly murmurs –
“You are enough.”
Not “enough when we achieve our goal.”
Not “enough when we fix everything.”
Just “enough,” even when things do not go according to our plans.
As the famous quote goes, “An empty mind is a devil’s workshop”; our mind can sometimes be loud with negative speculations. These thoughts can even be persuasive. They slowly build a case against us by gathering moments of failure, missed chances, and every time we remained silent.
And then one fine day, they become so loud that we begin to question ourselves and our strengths. However, we must be aware enough not to let these thoughts occupy our minds, as they are not universal facts. If we let these thoughts take over, it becomes detrimental to our well-being.
We always have to keep reminding ourselves that “we are enough” and that these thoughts are not the end in themselves.
There is always a version of us that exists beneath the noise, a version that is not touched by the burden of negative thoughts, and a version that is brave enough to take a stand for itself, even when the world makes us feel that we are not doing enough.
This version of us does not need to prove anything to anyone or look for validation. It is confident and strong enough to breathe freely. Just as we extend kindness to others without knowing their full stories, we must also extend that kindness to ourselves, especially on days when we feel like we are not doing enough. We must not withhold compassion, especially from ourselves.
But reminding ourselves that we are enough does not mean we stop growing. We must not abandon our ambition or settle into stillness. It simply means that our worth should not depend solely on the outcome of our growth.
Even on the most uncertain days, we must have the courage to stay confident and endure uncertainty with strength.
Therefore, beyond every negative and loud thought, and every fleeting doubt, a steady truth is quietly waiting for us –
“You were never missing anything.”
